The ever increasing need for the employment of non-local workers has raised the need for Australian shearing contractors to understand the issues related to workers who are not Australian ‘residents’ in the eyes of the ATO.

Employers, therefore, need to know how to treat these worker’s wages in terms of the tax to be withheld (PAYGW), Superannuation Guarantee Contributions(SGC), the inclusion of the remuneration paid to these workers in your Workers Compensation declaration, the Medicare Levy and even payroll tax in some cases.
